Ok here's the deal. 4th generation running this place but said but wait there is do much more! 70 some odd years serving BBQ in the same area?! This is truly the only real BBQ in the Shoals. Sloooooow cooked open pit, Juicy, and Flavorful. The most amazing thing about this place is there's not a hundred of them in franchise. Do your taste buds a favor and don't let the outside appearance fool you. EAT HERE. Your mouth will thank you. As will any guests that you happen to bring!!!

Took so long with my small order I had to leave empty handed or else I would have made myself late clocking back in from my thirty minute lunch break. BIG DISSAPOINTMENT in my opinion...

Outstanding lunch had the BBQ plate and it was great.

My hubby wanted a rib sandwich and we were not disappointed. It was delicious. I had half the sandwich for lunch the next day.

We almost always make this legendary bbq joint our last stop before we leave the Shoals area. It’s hard to choose between the pulled pork sandwiches with hot slaw and the hot dogs with that same hot slaw! My dad took me here when I was a kid and I’ve been a loyal follower for over 50 years. It’s not about atmosphere, it’s about the food.

My first time there today and I loved it. In business over 70 years, third generation owners, cooking in the same pit for over 40 years. Just fantastic. Get the hot slaw! It's so good!

Amazing rib plates and slaw dogs

Hands down the best in town where the locals go. They have great specials and always busy. The wait may take a few but when you are the best it is well worth a wait.

Authentic southern BBQ. The pulled pork was moist, and the hot slaw was on point! The wait for family pack to go was maybe 5 minutes. Will eat there again.

This was the worst BBQ I've ever had. It was the most expensive pack of buns I've ever bought before because that's all that was good. Meat was cold and flavorless. Beans were microwaved.

BBQ is very good, not heavily smoked like KC BBQ. Hot slaw is as hot as kimchi! Be warned. Mild slaw is very nice. Prices are very good. Limited beverages but go for the food!

Delicious! First time I've ever been (went during my lunch break) and was in and out within 10 minutes. The staff we're all so nice and you get a very at home feeling. I will definitely be back. The mild mustard slaw hotdog is perfect!

A true diamond in the rough! The location is very accessible from busy Pine st. Even though it is not in the downtown area of Court st, it is well worth the drive! Your tastebuds will thank you! The best prices around and the portions are avg to slightly above avg which is great for consumers! Locally owned & operated with the small "Ma & Paw" feel that makes each experience personal & inviting with their friendly staff. All walks of life come here to enjoy a bite for lunch. This is an order to-go type establishment with no inside seating (that I recall). It's been around for decades too!

Oh my goodness. Y'all! This is some good barbecue pork. We ordered the slaw and it'll bite back. But that pork... It was fresh, tender, and tasty. Good job folks!

The only place we use for barbeque for family reunions, anniversaries, or holidays. By far the best in Alabama! The staff are more like family to us!

We ate here 7-21-2018. This place has the best RIBS I have ever eaten. The chef is fantastic and knows how to cook those ribs. The store was needing some air conditioneing but when the over abundance of food was placed in front of us we didn't care any longer. The sauce is a stand alone creation by itself. The plates were loaded with plenty of food. The price was unbelievably low. We paid 17.00 for 2 meals. I will be back as soon as I can get there.

Great little Barbeque place! Dick Howell's has been a go to Barbeque place in Florence for decades and continues to be a local favorite. I usually get the "special" - - regular sandwich and a hot dog, chips, and a drink for a total of $6.76 (including tax) is a great deal!
